Last month’s bauma event in Germany was so big that the industry hive mind is still trying to digest everything it saw – and that includes these new, rough terrain electric material handlers from Spanish equipment brand AUSA!

It only happens every three years, but it’s spectacular! I’m speaking of course, about bauma – one of the largest trade shows of any kind where heavy equipment manufacturers serving construction, forestry, mining, and more bring out their latest and greatest new job site innovations, and we’ve got a whole bunch of them here, on this special bauma edition of Quick Charge!

CASE arrived at bauma 2025 with an innovative new electric wheel loader with a striking, sharp-edged design that ditches the traditional operator cab in favor of remote or autonomous operation for improved accessibility and safety.

Chinese equipment manufacturers LiuGong is showcasing its latest innovations in battery-electric construction equipment at bauma 2025 – including a new 870HE wheel loader (above), excavators, rigid mining trucks, and the the world’s first 25 ton electric grader.

The mobile crane experts at Manitowoc has arrived at bauma Munich with not one but TWO plug-in hybrid all-terrain crane concepts that combine a fully electrified superstructure with Manitowoc’s most popular five-axle carrier designs for cleaner, better job site performance.

Based on a capable Volvo FM Electric 8×4 chassis, Putzmeister revealed one of the world’s largest all electric concrete pump trucks at the bauma equipment expo in Munich, Germany this week. The zero-emission concrete pumper can up to 50 km and pump approximately 50 cubic meters of concrete on a single charge.

The electric construction equipment experts at XCMG just released a new, 25 ton electric crawler excavator ahead of bauma 2025 – and they have their eye on the global urban construction, mine operations, and logistical material handling markets.

An 800-head dairy farm in central Pennsylvania is the first in the United States to create a truly circular energy cycle by using recovered biogas to generate the electricity needed to charge the electric wheel loader that pushes feed to its cattle.

As in: the machine’s massive, cobalt-free, 422 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack. (!)

Electric construction equipment is quieter, cleaner, and safer to operate than diesel equipment anywhere, but that’s especially true in crowded urban areas where more people live and work. Charging that equipment isn’t always as easy as driving over to the nearest BP Pulse fast charger, however. Now, a new pilot program in London is hoping to eliminate the need to take equipment to chargers, and bringing charging to them.

When Kovaco (Firstgreen Industries) released its Elise CBL last year, it was the world’s first cabinless, remotely operated electric skid steer. This year, the company’s bringing another “world’s first” to America’s job sites. Meet CyberX – a machine that Kovaco claims is the world’s first, commercially available electric, remote-control mini track loader.

MOOG Construction’s energy skunkworks ZQUIP made headlines last year by bringing the cordless power tool battery model to the world of industrial-grade heavy equipment – now, they’re making it even easier for job sites to make every kilowatt count by enabling them to switch from diesel to electric and back, on the same machine. (!)

If you’re a middle-aged suburbanite looking to throw down the landscaping gauntlet on a rival dad, the Elgo-Plus Springer Max-EB battery electric micro excavator is absolutely the one-up yard machine you’ve been waiting for.

Rise Robotics’ electric Superjammer industrial robotic arm has the best name in the business. And now, it’s gunning for a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s strongest non-hydraulic robotic arm.
